Discusses the history of microscopes from the experiments of the Dutchman Jacobus Metius to its invention by Galileo; the construction of microscopes until 1660; the utility of telescopes and microscopes, including mention of Riccioli's Almagestum and Scheiner's Rosa ursina; a detailed description of the construction of contemporary telescopes and microscopes and their general use, as well as geometrical and astronomical use. Note added in a different hand in Italian (f. 177) concerns the dyeing of skins.
